Engage. Empower. Root.

Engage

God calls us. We can’t find God. We can’t claim God. We can’t earn God’s love. God chose us before we were even born. Part of the work of the church and people of God is to help others realize this, to help them engage with the God that is calling out to them.

Empower

God made each and every person special. If you did not exist the world would not be complete. All people must be empowered to embrace all of their gifts and make use of them to transform their lives, the lives of the people around them, and the world.

Root

Churches should be parishes. Parishes used to serve a specific geographical area and everyone that existed in that area was considered part of the family of that church. We are called to be rooted to our community and to work to make sure that everyone in that community has the life they are called to live.

Our Mission

At First Lutheran Community Church you are family. No matter who you are or where you’ve been you are welcome here. We are believers and seekers working to live out the call of Christ, that all people in our community have all that they need.

OUR FIVE GUIDING PRINCIPLES

1. Spirit Driven
2. Community Focused
3. Laughter Included
4. Fostering Fellowship
5. Everyone Welcome

OUR VISION

To be the church that helps people. A church that works to erase the lines between inside and outside, stranger and friend, rich and poor. A church where the whole person (body, mind, and soul) is nourished and supported. A church that daringly lives out the love of Christ.

WE NURTURE EACH OTHER IN FAITH

We are not in this faith journey alone. We all have amazing experiences, knowledge, and gifts to share with one another. The teacher is not just the pastor or the staff, but we all teach and share and grow together.

WE PURSUE GOD'S JUSTICE AND PEACE

We are building the kingdom of God. A place where all have what they need. Where the poor are not left alone. Where good enough is not good enough. Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” Abundant life includes justice, equality, and welcome.
