Kiva Krew
Posted on September 28, 2011

Kiva Krew at First Lutheran was born in January of 2008. I saw 'Grace' and her peanut butter story in Uganda on PBS/Frontline. She was hand grinding peanuts to make peanut butter to sell in Kampala. She needed to purchase a powered grinder to increase production. Then I heard the sermons 'What is your vision for 2008?', and then Micah 6:8: 'Do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God'. After these 'nudging' events, three families got together and Kiva Krew was born. A goal of 100 loans by July of 2008 was established. That goal was surpassed in May! Since then Kiva Krew has grown to 62 families/groups and has made more than 1000 loans in 53 countries. We can make a difference in the world!!!
The Kiva Krew story is featured on the Kiva website. The website is: www.kiva.org. Visit the website to make a loan to an entrepeneur, helping them out of poverty for as little as $25.
