Purpose
Noah’s Ark Preschool offers a Christian oriented program with activities to allow for the development of the WHOLE child. Under the constant supervision of qualified teachers, each child is guided physically, emotionally, spiritually, socially, and intellectually to meet the needs of tomorrow’s world. Noah’s Ark Preschool is an extension of the Christian education program of First Lutheran Community Church.
School Background
Noah’s Ark Preschool began in 1972 as a 12-student class and has grown to ten classes involving 150 children and five teachers. In 1979, the preschool became an official outreach of First Lutheran Church.
Program
The preschool offers a creative, individualized curriculum for children ages two through five. Noah’s Ark Preschool provides a wide variety of play activities to promote growth while respecting each child’s special needs. Emphasis is on readiness experiences in preparation for kindergarten.
Noah’s Staff
The teachers will provide a learning atmosphere that will help the children achieve success. All three teachers have college degrees in education and extensive experience working with young children. Staff members (See Photo-L to R) include:
- Kelly Hargrave, Left
- Judy Wilkin
- Kit White
- Karen Spellman
- Shannon Hassdbrock...not in picture
Classes
Noah’s Ark operates five days a week. One class session a week for 2 year olds, two class sessions a week for 3 year olds, and two to three class sessions a week for prekindergarten children. We have morning classes from 9:30 to 11:30, and afternoon classes from 12:30 to 3:00. The minimum class size is 12 children, and the maximum class size is 16 children. Each class has a teacher and two adult aides.
School Dates
The preschool is in session from mid-September to the end of May. Noah’s Ark Preschool observes the same school holidays as the South Kitsap School District.
Parents’ Role
We encourage each parent’s participation with their child through interaction between the child, the family, the preschool and First Lutheran Church. Our program offers co-operative participation from the parents for reduced tuition fees. Each family will be responsible for snack and juice approximately five times a year. Parents are encouraged to volunteer when possible and visits are always welcome!
Admissions Policy
Noah’s Ark Preschool is a ministry of First Lutheran Church. All children are welcome with the understanding that Christian concepts, ideals, and philosophies are inherent to the preschool program. Children of any race, creed, national and ethnic origin are entitled to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities.
